1.What is Your Favorite Holiday Tradition?
Well, as a child growing up, my favorite holiday tradition was Christmas Eve at my Mimi and Paw Paw’s. My Mimi put on the best Christmas Eve party for family and friends. I looked forward to it every year and miss it so much today. While Christmas Eve is not at Mimi’s anymore, we still have a Christmas Eve tradition with my daughter and my step-daughter’s family. We attend the Kansas City Ballet’s Nutcracker every year on Christmas Eve. It is such a magical story that is brought to life right before our eyes. Watching the Nutcracker as a family is such a great way to bring in the spirit of Christmas.

2.What is Your Favorite Winter Lip Product?
I just started using a new lip exfoliater that I absolutely love! When going back and forth in between the cold outside and the heat inside, my lips are super dry and flaky. This Sugar Lip Polish by Fresh exfoliates away all of the dry flaky skin to reveal soft and smooth lips! Hooray!
3.What is Your Favorite Winter Scent?
I love the smell of peppermint in the Winter! I love drinking peppermint tea. It’s decaffeinated, so that means I get to drink lots of it all day without having the jittery side effects of caffeine. I also love to use peppermint essential oil in my diffuser. I use my diffuser all year. I sometimes mix different oils together for a custom scent, and peppermint is always in the mix!
4.What is Your Go-to Winter Fashion Trend?
My Go-to Winter Fashion Trend is hands down a toasty warm infinity scarf. Having my neck and chest covered in a good chunky knit scarf keeps the cold out when I am out and about getting my errands done. Here are some of my favorites that are all on sale and under $35, most under $20!
5.What is Your All Time Favorite Holiday Movie?
I remember watching “It’s A Wonderful Life” with my mom one year and then I was hooked! Watching this classic movie reminds me of what is most important during Christmas and all through the year……my family, friends, and loved ones.
6.What is Your All Time Favorite Christmas Carol?
I have always loved “Silent Night.” I memorized all 3 verses when I was young singing in the church choir. It’s such a calming and peaceful Christmas Carol that reminds me of the reason that we celebrate Christmas. When I had my dance school, my students would perform a dancing Nativity with Mary, Shepards, The Wise Men, and Angels. The finale was performed to Silent Night while the dancers carefully held candles. It was so peaceful and beautiful to watch.
7.Do You Prefer to Stay Home or Travel for the Holidays?
For my daughter’s sake, we stay home for Christmas so that she can have memories of Santa coming to her house. When I was a fight attendant I didn’t like being away from home during Christmas at all. I didn’t have children then, but I still wanted to be home with my family.
8.What is Your Favorite Winter Skin Care Must Have?
In the winter my dull skin needs constant exfoliation to sluff off the dry flaky skin. This Dr. Denese Duo will exfoliate, brighten, and moisturize your skin to a smooth finish. I use the Advanced Firming Facial Pads morning and night after cleansing my face. If you can’t find the time to do an exfoliater or a resurfacing mask on your face, use these pads daily and you will notice an improvement in your skin’s overall texture and softness. The second part of this super star duo is the Hydroshield Moisturizing Face Serum. It will lock in the moisture of your skin, keeping it from getting dry which is when lines show! It contains retinol which will boost collagen to reduce fine lines, and speed cell turnover to even out discoloration and smooth the skin! If you can’t buy both products at once, get the Advanced Firming Facial Pads first. On their own, you will notice an improvement in your skin’s texture and brightness!
9.What is Your Favorite Winter Hair Care Product?
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Unite hair care product so much! I originally bought it for my daughter’s hair, but started using it on my own hair too. It”s a spray on detangler and leave in conditioner. You can use it on wet or dry hair. I always use it after washing my hair and my daughter’s hair, then comb it through without any tangles, which means no tears. I also use it on my daughter’s dry curly hair anytime I need to brush hair. I just can’t say enough about this fantastic hair product. If I were stranded on a desert island I would definitely want this with me!
10.What is Your Favorite Winter Activity?
To be honest, I am not a fan of bundling up to go outside for any length of time. I have been skiing in Colorado, Wyoming, and Canada. I loved going on these family ski vacations to be with family and I enjoyed being around and taking in the beautiful snowy scenery. While I did ski, I was completely happy sitting inside by the fire place watching everyone else fly down the mountain on their skis. Now that my daughter is old enough to start skiing, I may have to “suit up” again!
11.What is Your Favorite Winter Beauty Product?
When my skin is looking dull or feeling dry from the cold winter air, I love to use this Glamglow Supermud. It’s a great mask to use once or twice a week to give your skin a pick me up. This cleansing mud treatment will help to minimize pores and create clearer skin! It’s great to use when those pesky pimples pop up. It really is a great product to have in your beauty bag because when you need it, you will be so glad that you have it on hand!
12.Do You Love or Dislike the Snow?
Well, from my previous winter activity answer, you probably already know my answer to this question. I love looking at the beautiful snow, but being out and about in it is not my favorite thing to do. I am definitely more of a warm weather person, maybe that’s because I grew up in the South or because I was born in June. If it were up to me, I would live right on the beach!
13.What is One Item on Your Christmas Wish List?
Time in a Bottle! I know! Wouldn’t we all like to have more time. And because we can’t bottle time or make more time, I have a New Year’s resolution to make more of the time that I do have count. Time with family is especially important to me. I want to make an extra special effort to not let the small or unimportant items consume my time that should be spent with my priority of my precious family.
14.What is Your Favorite Holiday Treat?
This is hard to answer because I love all of the Holiday Treats! Both of my grandmothers used to make tons of Christmas cookies. You just can’t beat a tin of Christmas cookies during the Holidays. It’s been several years since I have made a lot of different cookies to deliver to friends and neighbors. That might be 2nd on my New Year’s resolution for next year! I also love making muffins and delivering them to neighbors while they are warm from the oven. This Chocolate Banana Muffin Recipe is a perfect treat to have around during the holidays or any time of the year.
15.Do You Finish Your Christmas Shopping Before December or Are You A Last Minute Shopper?
I start shopping strong early but then take a break and still have some shopping to do the week before Christmas. My absolute must be done shopping date is December 22nd. I really enjoy being at home those 2 days before Christmas wrapping gifts, cooking for Christmas Eve, and just enjoying the wonderful magic that only Christmas can bring.
